Why your contact form isnt getting any enquiries

You’ve got traffic.
You’ve got a nice-looking website.
But your phone isn’t ringing. Your inbox? Quiet as a graveyard.

What’s gone wrong?

Spoiler: the problem isn’t always technical.
Often, it’s UX, trust, and friction.

Let’s break down why your contact form might not be pulling its weight – and how you can fix it.

1) You’re Asking for Too Much, Too Soon

People are busy. Attention spans online are measured in milliseconds.

If your contact form looks like a job application, you’ve already lost half your audience.

  • 15 required fields? Nope.

  • Asking for their birthdate? Nope.

  • Making them select their industry from a list of 200? Definitely nope.

The Fix
Keep it simple.
Name. Email. Message.
If you absolutely need more info, ask it later once the conversation has started.

The fewer obstacles you put in front of people, the more likely they are to reach out.

2)  They Don’t Trust You Yet

This one’s big. A lot of people land on a site and think:

“Who am I actually sending my details to?”

If your website feels a bit anonymous or low-effort, people hesitate to share their info.

The Fix
Build trust visually and socially.
Add client logos. Display reviews and testimonials. Show your face/team (real humans, not stock images).
Add a physical location, phone number, ABN, whatever gives legitimacy.
Use clear privacy language: “We’ll never share your info.”

People don’t fill in forms when they don’t feel safe.

3) The Form Itself Is Broken

Yes – sometimes it is technical.

Spam filters blocking submissions. A form plugin not working after a website update. Emails getting flagged or never delivered. Mobile responsiveness issues (tiny fields, buttons too small)

The Fix
Test your form regularly (especially after updates)
Use a form plugin/service with built-in deliverability protection
Test on mobile, not just desktop

4) It’s Buried in Your Website

“Contact us” buried in the footer? Or worse – no form at all, just an email link?

People aren’t going to hunt for ways to reach you.

The Fix
Make your contact form easy to find.
Use clear CTAs throughout your site (“Let’s chat”, “Get a quote”, “Enquire today”).
Don’t hide your enquiry form behind 3 pages of navigation.

5) It’s Buried in Your Website

Cold, corporate, generic copy makes people hesitate.

Please fill out the following inquiry form for further correspondence.”

Nobody talks like that.

The Fix
Write like a human.
Be conversational.
Use inviting, simple language.
